Sound Sisters 35 – Mike Cubillos of Earshot Media

The Sisters dive into this episode by reminiscing their years of experience in self-promoted DIY public relations and networking ventures. Later, they receive some killer advice and takeaways from Mike Cubillos, owner and operator of Earshot Media. With over 22 years of successful PR experience in the music industry, he opens up about his contributions and journey into the biz. Throughout the discussion, he is very transparent of what it takes to be successful from a music PR perspective. This is one of the reasons why many musicians (of all calibers) trust his services. Supporting big acts and festivals such as Warped Tour, It’s Not Dead, and Punk Rock Bowling, he still stays true to his underground roots. Although Earshot Media represents many different music genres, Drea and Gaby reveal firsthand how essential he is to the punk rock community due to his assistance with The Venomous Pinks. Art & Music Collided for Punk Rock & Paintbrushes

Words & Photography by Angela RoseRed

Romantic Rock ended the decade with an artistic bang by hosting their fourth Punk Rock and Paintbrushes Holiday art show in Los Angeles. Festivities took place at the Self Help Graphics Art Gallery, which provided a larger space compared to last year’s exhibition; resulting in bigger displays and more contributors. Feature artwork was created from musicians such as Tim Armstrong of Rancid, Matt Hensley of Flogging Molly, Jim Lindberg of Pennywise, Alison Mosshart of The Kills, Monique Powell of Save Ferris, Carla Harvey of Butcher Babies, Warren Fitzgerald of The Vandals,  and Jack Grisham of T.S.O.L.; tattoo artist Tokyo Hiro; professional skateboarders Steve Caballero and Jason Adams; photographers Madison Stern and Sara Wright, as well as artists Natalia Fabia and Johnny Ness to name a few.  The Sound Sisters did a 24 hour turn and burn road trip from Arizona to cover press. Exhaustion be damned, we were hyped while running on art fumes and excellent company infiltrated our entire evening. read more
